VÉR - CHAPTER V: Mama (the state of things) - (Official Music Video)

After returning to the physical world, Alphar the Redeemer must retrace the steps of their former self in order to make peace with those they have wronged and sooth the corruption left in their wake. We return to Omeghars altar to find that it has been transformed into a lush paradise where Alphar may begin to write spells and songs for a new world. Produced by: Soft Focus Media Ltd. & Taymaynari Productions Ltd. Directed by: David Chan Written by: Rhyver Mores (VÉR) Stream my new single "Mama (the state of things)" on Spotify now!!! https://gyro.to/MamaThestateofthings “Mama” discusses the state of the world, the state of human connection and the state of my own mental health. It was just after massive bushfires tore across the majority of my home state of Victoria, as well as many others, that the COVID lockdowns began. There was an unmistakable sense of hopelessness that swept across everyone I knew, myself included. The distance and tragedy forced us all to really reflect and think about what’s truly important underneath all the media and the fear. I had just returned from a spiritual retreat and felt that it was time to share the fruits of what I had learned with the world. It was after writing “Mama” that “The State of Things EP” began to come to life. Mama (the state of things) Lyrics: I grew up with a lot green around me. Brought up with the finest of the finery. But burning trees are the only thing that I see. I numb the thoughts with another shot of Hennessey. I'm in AU but the fires here are frightening. The sky is red, and the streets are filled with violence. People talking, they don't even know the half of it, the government gets ready to sell up all that’s left We're struggling to feel connection to each other. Were triflin' we should have listened to our mothers When they said "baby boy the world's your oyster" ‘cause wait too long and it's gone with all our water. How many times have you lied tryna make sense of it? How many times have you cried tryna just get free? But it, feels like the only one time we even bother trying, the man just kicks us back down, and so we go on fighting. Mama, I don't wanna go home. Just let me stay another 5 minutes or so. Mama, I don't want to go cold but out here on the playground it's getting a little too warm. Mother, can you hear me now? Tryna save the world, fighting demons in the streets and brother, do you fear me now? Tryna save your heart, I can barely feel it beat And love, do you feel it now? Pouring out my light tryna make some heat And heat, do you feel it now? The earth is heating up and we can't stop it We are the future of us and the only ones who can stop this. Be, be victorious in slowing this down ‘cause we're running out of options. See a future for us, one that's filled with nature and wild things, free of those of us who would see it burn for profit. Tryna keep my dollars on lock yeah but that really don’t make no sense. Tryna keep myself on top? Shit! I'm barely on top of my health! Is this all our people got? Shit! I was thinking we were stronger than that! Is this how we going to solve this? Pretending we don't care? Is this what the world has become? Sympathy for you? I have none. Trying to make your dough while your children burn in tandem. Is this all now all we cry In the face of oblivion? Well, it's alright, fingers in your ears, just close your eyes and stand down! Mama, I don't wanna go home. Just let me stay another 5 minutes or so. Mama, I don't want to go cold but out here on the playground it's getting a little too warm. Mama, I don't wanna no more, just praying for another five minutes of hope. Mama what the hell is this for? Working tryna save you but they beating down the front door. I'm tired, I'm tired mama. ------------------------------------------------------- Follow VÉR http://instagram.com/ver.beats http://facebook.com/ver.beats http://twitter.com/ver.beats https://www.tiktok.com/@ver.beats Sign up for their mailing list: https://verbeatsofficial.wixsite.com/home -------------------------------------------------------

In a direct response to the attacks of fear on our beloved city, we have decided to speak up and say “no more fear” in the only way we know how - audio and video. With an original recorded song called “We live here” by a group of talented volunteers, who reside in Melbourne, and soon an original video, we aim to spread our message and shout out to the world, that our lives will not be governed by attacks on our city. Together, through music, video, stories and education, we aim to help anyone who has been directly or indirectly affected. Join us and like our page, volunteer for events, help support each other and post advice, thoughts and support for those that need it. Thank you and remember - we stand together! Jake Cini xx
